OUR APPROACH

Looking After the Estate

Etive Estate sits within 350 acres of Highland landscape overlooking Loch Etive — woodland, water, open hillsides and a rich variety of wildlife that shapes daily life on the estate.

Our approach is simple: to care for the land responsibly while creating a place people can experience, enjoy and return to for generations to come.

Sustainability at Etive is not about grand statements or unnecessary complexity. It is about thoughtful decisions, long-term stewardship and a genuine respect for the environment around us.

---

ENERGY & INFRASTRUCTURE

Across the estate, we continue to invest in more efficient and lower-impact systems where possible.

This currently includes:

- Air source heat pump technology
- EV charging facilities
- Renewable electricity supply
- Reduced energy lighting strategies
- Ongoing improvements to insulation and energy efficiency

As the estate evolves, sustainability remains an important consideration in all future development and restoration work.

---

THE LAND & WILDLIFE

The landscape surrounding Etive Estate is central to its identity.

Deer, eagles, buzzards, kingfishers and a wide range of native wildlife are regularly seen across the estate and surrounding lochs.

We actively maintain woodland areas, loch environments and natural habitats throughout the estate, while continuing to explore future opportunities for native restoration and long-term conservation projects.

Our private fishing loch is carefully managed with a focus on protecting water quality, habitat health and the wider natural environment.

---

LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS

Where possible, we work with local suppliers, guides and independent businesses across Argyll and the west coast of Scotland.

From fishing experiences and outdoor activities to food, drink and estate services, supporting local businesses remains an important part of how we operate.

---

WASTE & MATERIALS

We continue to reduce unnecessary waste across the estate through:

- Recycling programmes
- Reduced single-use plastics
- More sustainable operational practices
- Considered sourcing and supplier choices

We also continue to review and improve the products and systems used across housekeeping and estate operations wherever practical.

---

DARK SKIES & QUIET LANDSCAPES

One of the most remarkable aspects of Etive Estate is the sense of space, stillness and darkness after sunset.

We intentionally maintain a low-light approach across much of the estate to preserve the atmosphere of the landscape, reduce unnecessary light pollution and protect the natural environment surrounding us.

---

LOOKING FORWARD

Caring for an estate of this scale is an ongoing process.

As Etive continues to evolve, we remain committed to making thoughtful, responsible decisions that protect the landscape while allowing guests to experience the Highlands in a genuine and immersive way.
